Hakim & Binta
Binta is a 25 year old widow with one son, Hakim. Hakim is 7 years old with cerebral palsy, autism, and is non verbal. His cerebral palsy prevents him from walking, forcing him to crawl. Binta is unable to work as she has to look after Hakim. Her only source of financial support comes from her elderly mother who still works as a cleaner.
Binta used to work selling vegetables, but Hakim would get bullied by the other children in the village and beaten due to his condition. This forced Binta to stay home to look after Hakim. She is unable to sleep some nights, worried what will happen to Hakim in the future when she is no longer there and unable to care for him.
Through the Sadiq Trust and Orchard House, we hope to provide Hakim a centre where he can learn and play with other children. Despite his condition, he may be able to use crutches with the right therapy and support.
