Student Support

BACKGROUND

My father died in 2021. I was still a child, and overnight my mother was left to raise five of us on her own. She does it by selling small groceries outside our home. Every day, whatever she makes, she stretches as far as it will go.

For a while, my education was one of the things that couldn't be stretched to. The fees were there, but the money wasn't. I had to stop.

Then the Sadiq Trust began sponsoring me, and everything changed.

I am now in my third year of a BSc in Public Health. I go to lectures, I study, I have a future I can see clearly in front of me. That would not have been possible without the support I received.

When I graduate, I want to work with the Department of Health in Sierra Leone. Not just to build a career, but to do for others what was done for me.

To make sure that children growing up in the same situation I was in have somewhere to turn, and a chance to turn things around.

I also want to take care of my mother. She carried all of us for a long time. It will be my turn soon.

That is what we are here to address.

Education is empowerment
