Cherno
Cherno is 8 years old, an energetic and curious boy who loves to be active and throws himself into every task. He has autism and is nonverbal, but his comprehension is high. He understands far more than he is yet able to express. His one spoken word, “Baa”, he uses with surprising range and intent.
Cherno has no physical disabilities. He can use the toilet and feed himself independently, and he has already discovered a love of drawing. He can hold a pencil and fill a page with scribbles full of energy and intent. His mother runs a small market stall to support the family.
Through Orchard House, we hope to channel Cherno’s enthusiasm and give him the tools to read, write, and communicate. He is ready to learn. He simply needs the right environment in which to do it.
