Bintou
Bintou is 7 years old and has Down syndrome. Due to weak limbs and inadequate nutrition, she still gets around by crawling. She has never walked.
Bintou can feed herself with her fingers and has a quiet, determined character, but she has not yet had access to the therapy or specialist care that could help her reach her potential. Her father is away, and her mother, a housewife supported only by family, carries the responsibility for all four children on her own.
Through Orchard House, we hope to give Bintou the physiotherapy, nutrition support, and loving structured environment that could one day see her take her first steps. Her mother dares to hope for that moment. So do we.
