BACKGROUND
Every child deserves a family. We make sure they keep one.
Millions of children around the world have lost a parent. In places like The Gambia, where state support simply doesn't exist, that loss can define everything - access to school, to healthcare, to a stable home. Without help, the future of these children is left entirely to chance.
We believe the best place for an orphaned child is with their own family. An aunt, a grandparent, a sibling - someone who already loves them. Our role is to make sure that family can cope.
That's where our three pot system comes in. Every donation is split into three distinct areas, each with a clear purpose.
That is what we are here to change.
We believe that these children are best looked after by their own extended families. We help them through our 3 pot system...
Pot A: The child's essentials
School fees paid directly to the school. Uniforms, books and healthcare covered at source. This money goes straight to what the child needs, with no room for it to be redirected elsewhere.
Pot B: The household
Taking in an orphaned child costs money. Food bills rise, space gets tight, utilities stretch further. Pot B supports the whole household, providing a stable home to keeps the child safe.
Pot C: The caregiver
The family member raising this child is making a real sacrifice to look after the orphaned child. Pot C acknowledges that through a modest monthly allowance. This allows them a chance to cover the school fees/expenses of their own children, or provide a small income for themselves.
We perform regular check-ins with both the child and caregiver to confirm:
Are the children in school?
Are there any illnesses?
Any major household stress?
